Enter a new PIF

Before you begin

• Determine whether you are eligible to enter a Personal Information Form (PIF) with Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) Church Leadership Connection.  For more detailed information go to Who May Use CLC?

Who may enter a PIF?

• Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) Ministers of the Word and Sacrament (except as noted below).
• Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) Candidates for ministry who have been certified “ready for examination for ordination, pending a call” by their Presbytery Committee on Preparation for Ministry.
• Christian educators, deacons, elders and lay professionals who are members of a Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) congregation.
• Ministers of other denominations who are transferring their membership to the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and have completed the requirements for transfer except for the call.

Who may not enter a PIF?

• Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) Ministers of Word and Sacrament against whom allegations or charges are pending.
• Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) Ministers of Word and Sacrament who are currently under judicial censure limiting their ministry or who are under supervised rehabilitation.
• Ministers of Formula of Agreement partner denominations (ELCA, RCA and UCC).
• Ministers of other denominations not seeking to transfer their membership to the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).
• Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) candidates for ministry who have NOT been “certified ready for examination for ordination, pending a call” by their Presbytery Committee on Preparation for Ministry.
• Christian educators, youth workers and other church professionals who are NOT members of a Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) congregation.

• Download Forms and Instructions and complete a draft PIF off-line.
• From the CLC website, download and/or print from “Printable Forms” Instructions for Entering a PIF, copies of PIF Part I, PIF Part II, and the Skill List in either PDF Format or MS Word Format.  You will need these copies to assist you in gathering information and in creating a draft of your PIF. See Forms for more information.
• Review the resources available on the CLC website that can assist you in entering a PIF. This includes information on minimum operating system requirements, overview of the PIF process, PIF Tips for Specific Positions, and a guide to self-referrals.  See Resources for more information.
• Gather the information you will need to fill out your PIF. 
• Complete a draft of your PIF off-line and, if possible, in a word processing document (especially the narrative portion).  You will use this draft to copy and paste into your on-line PIF.  This will also give a back-up copy in case glitches happen and information is lost while entering it on-line (it’s been known to happen).
