Your congregation may also have a Cents-Ability, Two Cents A Meal or similar program that helps children (and adults) reflect about people who have little to eat. PHP's Cents-Ability materials make this educational and fun.

Your financial support enables the Presbyterian Hunger Program (PHP) to witness to the healing love of Christ and to bring hope to communities and individuals struggling with hunger. Please give generously to the above General Hunger Fund or to one of the specific Hunger Funds below.

  Joining Hands
#E051608

Through Joining Hands , PC(USA) congregations will develop meaningful relationships with overseas partners involved in addressing root causes of hunger in their countries. PC(USA) presbyteries in the US will work with national networks of churches and grassroots organizations overseas to address hunger through comprehensive and coordinated activities. Participating PC(USA) congregations and their overseas partners will be trained in joint hunger initiatives focused on mutual respect and justice concerns. Through their participation in Joining Hands, Presbyterian will have opportunities to pray and to be in active solidarity with suffering and struggling communities overseas. In so doing they will be spiritually strengthened by their joint experiences and communion in ministry against hunger.

Food & Faith: Food Justice for All              #H000118
Donations to this fund, administered by the Presbyterian Hunger Program, will support dynamic initiatives that uphold justice for employees in our food and farming systems, environmentally sustainable practices, and access to fresh, healthy food for all of God's children. Ultimately, the test of our food system is a moral one. We must regularly ask ourselves: Do our consumer choices, our farming practices and treatment of farm workers, and our public policies on agriculture prioritize the needs of people and the environment? Read more about projects supported in the past.

Hunger & Human Development in the USA
#E865703

Hunger and poverty are persistent and growing realities in the US. In the midst of great wealth, children go to bed hungry, elderly people subsist on meager diets and the working poor are unable to make a living adequate to provide sufficient food for their families. The Presbyterian Hunger Program (PHP) approves grants to projects addressing hunger and poverty in the US. These grants enable church and community groups to provide direct food relief and address the underlying causes of hunger. Your gifts will make it possible to reach out to more hungry children, homeless families and communities working to assure that everyone has enough to eat. Current lists of specific projects are available from Presbyterian Hunger Program.

HAEs assist congregations and other groups to become engaged with the poor in their own communities and in other countries to address immediate needs and long-term solutions. They provide a link with a local, regional and national ecumenical agencies which address issues of direct hunger relief, hunger-related development assistance, public policy advocacy, education and interpretation about hunger and lifestyle issues, including environmental justice. As enablers of others, they provide a "switchboard" for these agencies and the national Presbyterian Hunger Program (PHP) to resource, alert, and mobilize Presbyterians for specific hunger action.
