A Deep Well for the Pastor
A deeply inspirational CD by musician David Bailey and minister/author Stephen McCutchan, A Deep Well for the Pastor offers spiritual meditations and music to support the pastoral vocation. The evocative cover art is by Tiare Mathison.
As part of its ongoing commitment to support pastors year round by providing uniquely helpful resources for clergy development and support, the PC(USA) Office of Vocation — a shared ministry of the General Assembly Mission Council and the Office of the General Assembly — teamed up with the Presbytery Pastoral Care Network (PPCN) to sponsor and produce a new CD, A Deep Well for the Pastor.

The origins of A Deep Well for the Pastor lie in the “mutual passion for supporting clergy” shared by Bailey and McCutchan, who met through a meeting of the PPCN, a group of ministry professionals and volunteers through the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) who are concerned for or engaged in providing pastoral care to ministers.
Bailey, the son of Presbyterian missionaries, developed a passion for songwriting as a teenager. When he was diagnosed in 1996 with a malignant brain tumor, he dedicated himself to a full time ministry of music and hope. Since that time, he has released 17 CDs and performed in 44 states and several countries.
McCutchan, an adjunct professor at Wake Forest Divinity School with 38 years in the pastoral ministry, is the author of Experiencing the Psalms, Good News for a Fractured Society and a lectionary series from CSS Publishing Company. He is also a previous recipient of the Jim Angell Award, given annually by the Presbyterian Writers Guild for the best first book by a Presbyterian writer.
Partial funding for the project was secured through the Roger Harp Memorial Fund, which was designated by the Office of Vocation to promote pastoral care of pastors. Harp, a longtime presbytery and synod executive, who died as a result of an automobile accident in February 2007, was known and especially loved for his mentoring of young pastors. He was also a founding member of PPCN.
A Deep Well for the Pastor is available for purchase through the Presbyterian Marketplace. All sales benefit the Roger Harp Memorial Fund.
