Amistad prayer update

My tongue will speak of your righteousness and of your praises all day long.
Psalm 35:28

Please, join Proyecto Amistad and Presbyterian Churches of Mexico in praying for the following:

  • Please continue to pray for complete healing for Juvenal Ortiz, former Amistad coordinator, who has been battling pancreatic illness. We give thanks that Juvenal and family have been able to travel for some vacation recently.
  • We give thanks for the life of Germana Contreras de Gonzalez of Puerta del Cielo Presbyterian Church of Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, who passed away this past week. Germana served the church as Sunday school teacher and in many other ways throughout her life. Many of you know her son, the Reverend Jesse Gonzalez, who was a principal founder of Proyecto Amistad while he was the pastor at Uno En El Espiritu Church of Piedras Negras, Coahuila. Please pray for comfort for Germana's husband, Jesus, and for the entire family.
  • Photo of a young man sitting at a table. He appears to helping a girl finish an art project.
Daniel Rubio Silva, shown hear helping with vacation Bible school, recovered recently from a serious bout with hepatitis.
  • Thanks for Daniel Rubio Silva's return to health after battling hepatitis. Daniel, who is 15, visits Victoria en Jesucristo Mission, of Nuevo Laredo, with his grandmother and helps with vacation bible School. He and his family live in an area that has no water or electrical services and becomes inaccessible to vehicles after heavy rains. Daniel was very sick during the heavy rains over the last month and had to be taken to the bus stop in a wheelbarrow by his family because he was too weak to walk. Daniel said he was yellow “like a Simpson’s character” and told his grandmother to keep praying for him. The family gives thanks to God for seeing them through that difficult time, and we continue to pray for Daniel's full recovery.
  • Join the churches of Noreste Presbytery as they celebrate and give thanks during activities for Independence Day, September 16. Many of the churches have special activities this weekend.

Please pray for your particular friends and partners in God’s mission in Mexico.

This is love for God:  to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome.
1 John 5:3
