Kristin has worked in the Dominican Republic as a missionary and assistant project coordinator for the Foundation for Peace since June 2005 and will continue her duties with that organization—hosting mission teams and coordinating construction projects, medical clinics, and evangelism activities.
Kristin describes her service with the Foundation for Peace as transformative. She finds that the Latin American focus on people and relationships is exactly what she wants and needs. “So many times in the States,” she writes, “I feel like we are focused on the things we have to do, on the material possessions we think we need. In Latin America, the focus is on people. Knowing your neighbors is important, because if you get sick in the night, who can come to your aid? There is something beautiful about losing a bit of the independence we value so much as North Americans and learning to rely on others and upon God.”
A graduate of Midland Lutheran College in Fremont, Nebraska, Kristin holds a bachelor’s degree in youth and family ministry. She is a member of First Presbyterian Church in Grand Island, Nebraska.
