Gathering All Nations: A Multicultural Worship Service and International Dinner

On World Communion Sunday, October 5, 2008, 480 people from across the Presbytery of Chicago filled the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church of Evanston and joined in worship and fellowship. This gathering celebrated the good news of our common ministry in a multicultural Church. The service began with a procession representing 20 countries continued with many cultural expressions for witnessing to the expansive love of God. Multicultural worship is at ease in incorporating symbols, music and worship patterns from around the world and around the block. [Read more]

2009 National Multicultural Conference and the Big Tent
Hyatt Regency, Atlanta, Ga.
June 11—13, 2009
This first of its kind celebration will offer participants the opportunity to experience 10 different Presbyterian ministry conferences — all under one roof — over a three-day period. Partner groups will hold their conferences simultaneously and members of those groups can attend as they do traditionally. The added feature of the Big Tent allows additional “common time” for participants to attend workshops that might be outside their core interest or affiliation. Vibrant worship, blessed meals and an uplifting Saturday night celebration will also be times this entire Presbyterian family will come together as one. [Read more]

“Living the Vision: Becoming a Multicultural Church” is now available in Korean. This resource explores the biblical and theological foundation of diversity, the important tools and means of communication in a multicultural community and the "how to" of becoming a multicultural church.

A look back at the Multicultural Youth Conference
July 3-6, 2008
Mo-Ranch Conference Center, Hunt, Texas

A record number of attendees, “The Matrix,” small groups and Mo-lympics combined to make this year’s Multi-Cultural Youth Conference at Mo-Ranch Conference Center a success. For the first time, the conference included churches outside the Synod of the Sun, resulting in approximately 180 enthusiastic participants and marking the beginning of an exciting partnership between Mo Ranch, the Joint Ethnic Councils of the Synod of the Sun and the National Office of Multicultural Ministries. Now that you are home, let us thank you with a deep sense of appreciation for your participation in this Ninth Multicultural Church Conference. We truly hope that you enjoyed every minute of the event, and while the conference may not have answered every question you had, we sincerely pray that we helped you in finding some answers as you continue to journey side by side with us in this new and sometimes unfamiliar world — a world that God gave birth to and to which God is calling us to serve.
