Learn what Presbyterian Resource Centers do for you

Resource Centers are learning and lending centers of information and resources that are spread across the country within presbyteries. If you are looking for information about anything to do with your ministry or witness, check your local resource center to find out what is available.

For example: Do you need youth ministry resources? Your resource center has a variety of materials to help you in your ministry. Most resource centers feature the Presbyterian Resource Center Subscription, which enables them to get the most current denominational resources for a nominal yearly fee.

Resource Centers are here to help. Find your nearest center and stop by.

What’s new in 2009?

We have streamlined the Resource Center Subscription process, making it easier and more cost effective and enabling us to provide you with more resources for your money. We hope that if you are already a subscriber, these changes only make it easier for you to continue to receive resources beneficial to your ministry. If you do not currently subscribe, we hope you will take another look at the benefits that it can provide to your center.

Resource Connections newsletter Fall 2008

Dear Resource Center directors and friends:

We hope this fall finds you well.

There have been many changes to our staff this fall. We welcome Clare Lewis, the new associate for sales and business development to the team. Clare joins Tim and Michael to create a marketing team within the Finance, Marketing and Sales office. Our team is led by the executive editor, Steven Moore and is complete with Jerri Smith, the assistant to the executive editor.

Clare will be taking over the primary responsibility for the resource center subscription and letters, and will become a primary contact for you. Michael is working on the Web sites, and continues to be the editor for ideas! For Church Leaders. Hopefully, with these changes, Michael will have some time to dig even deeper into those projects. Tim is the assistant for marketing, and will continue to help connect people and resources, and to design and publish the newsletter for RCs.

There has been a lot going on here and in the wider church this fall. We here at Congregational Ministries Publishing have been very busy working on We Believe, specifically, the roll out of the fall 2009 curriculum. Our curriculum editors have been as busy as the wee Believe bees to get things ready, and our copyeditors and designers have been equally creative and energetic. Look for more information in December.

There are some flyers and promotional pieces included in the mailing you received, please look those over carefully.
Two things we want to draw to your attention:

The new resource, Alive to God in Jesus Christ, is the Moderator’s Lenten Bible Study for the church. We have included a promotional flyer, and hope you will share this information widely! It is a first for us and the church.
The new documentary, John Calvin: His Life and Legacy, will be coming with the curriculum box (along with the new vacation Bible school, Discovery Canyon.)

There are many other resources coming in 2009 that you will find very helpful and exciting.

October was a very busy month, with trips by editors and Candace Hill to various regional events and other conferences. The early part of November even saw some travel to the Presbyterian Youth Workers Association (Michael Harper) and to Society for Biblical Literature (Clare Lewis).

We are looking forward to 2009 and several key events: APCE, Big Tent, and Presbyterian Women. Don’t miss the opportunities around APCE for resource center directors: a pre-POINT resource center meeting with Clare and Michael on Tuesday January 27, POINT (featuring the new We Believe), the bi-annual meeting of the Presbyterian Association of Resource Centers (with a vote on new officers and luncheon), and a great workshop track in the APCE Program book. If you have not been recently, this one may be the one to attend for you!

God bless you and your work,
Michael, Clare and Tim
