recognized for excellence in two national contests in 2005.
The awards honor material published in the magazine in 2004.
Presbyterians Today won third place (out of 18 entries)
in the Associated Church Press's prestigious Best in Class category
for denominational magazines. The judges said the magazine "provides
a healthy array of content which informs, affirms, celebrates,
helps and challenges its readers."
The Associated Church Press also gave Presbyterians Today an Award
of Excellence (first place) in the "Convention
Coverage (magazine)" category for reporting
of the 2004 General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). The
judge said: "This convention coverage has it all: crisp
and lively writing, visual appeal, thorough coverage of issues,
and a perspective on their importance. It accomplishes the
difficult: summarizing an expansive event in a way that captivates
interest, honors complexity, and yet avoids the superficial."

to criticize" in Presbyterians Today, calling it
"a strong publication." The judge also commented that

Today received 7 awards in national competitions sponsored
in 1998 by the Associated Church Press and the Religious Public
Relations Council. The magazine tied for second place in the
prestigious "Best in Class" category for denominational
general-interest magazines in the Associated Church Press contest.
The judge called Presbyterians Today an "excellent
publication, full of forethought, creativity, substance, and
splash." Noting that the magazine "has the look of
a winner," the judge added, "Readers surely must appreciate
its depth."
Presbyterians Today won awards from the Associated
Church Press in five other categories:
- Award of Excellence (first place) in the "Most Personally
Useful Article" category for "Learning to Read What
You Watch," by Richard Austin Thompson (January/February
1997 issue)
- Award of Excellence in the "Magazine Graphics: Spread
